Bengaluru: Karnataka government announced Rs 50 lakh compensation to the family of the slain Sub-inspector Jagadish, who was stabbed to death by bike thieves on Friday, October 17.
Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said that the government will bear the education expenses of the SI’s children and also allocate land and a government job for members of the family. The salary for the remaining service period of the officer will also be paid in full.
Apart from this, the Bengaluru police chief has promised an ex-gratia amount of Rs 30 lakh to the family and Rs 20 lakh from a special insurance scheme. He has also promised to recommend the brave police officer’s name for the Shourya Chakra honour.
Ministers like former CM Veerappa Moily, Agriculture minister Krishna Byre Gowda and BJP leader Eshwarappa paid their last respects to the brave police officer.
The funeral is scheduled to be held on Saturday.
