Bengaluru: As expected PWD minister, HD Revanna’s statement against Sumalatha, actress, and wife of Rebel Star Late Ambareesh has sparked a new controversy.

PWD minister HD Revanna had recently asked Sumalatha if her political venture was necessary within a month of her husband’s death. As many felt that the remarks were made in bad taste, Ambareesh’s supporters demanded an apology from the minister and the latter refused.

“I am not insane to apologize,” the minister said.

All started with Revanna stating that according to the Hindu tradition, the widow should not come out of the home for a few months after her husband’s death.

“But even before one and half months after her husband’s death, Sumalatha is active. Whether all these was required?,” he had questioned.

His statement went viral causing a new headache for the JDS leaders. When asked about his reaction Revanna made it clear that he stands by what he said and he is not insane to apologise.

CM HD Kumaraswamy, whose son Nikhil is expected to lock horn against Sumalatha expressed his displeasure over the statement. He made it clear that such statements are not fit to any and it is of very bad taste. “We want to broaden our mindset,” he said.

Back in Mandya, Sumalatha’s supporters went over drive against Revanna’s statement. They used social media to slam Revanna. They urged JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda to intervene immediately and ensure that such statements are not repeated.
