Bengaluru: In a disturbing case of public assault, a man was taken into custody in Govindapura for allegedly harassing a young woman and biting her lips in broad daylight.
The accused, Mohammad Maroof Sharief, is said to have followed the woman while she had stepped out to purchase groceries. According to officials, he behaved in an indecent manner, forcibly kissed her, and bit her on the lips right in the middle of the street.
The woman managed to escape from the scene and informed her mother, who then reached out to the police. A formal complaint was registered at the Govindapura Police Station. The accused has since been arrested and charged with public indecency and sexual harassment.
This is not an isolated incident. On June 6, around 7 pm, two cases of inappropriate behavior were reported within minutes of each other near Milton Park, Cooke Town. In one case, a man approached a woman walking with her family and acted inappropriately. Moments later, he allegedly entered the park, forcefully embraced another woman and kissed her on the lips. When confronted, the accused reportedly said, “Reporting won’t change anything,” and fled.
Earlier in April, CCTV footage from BTM Layout recorded a man stalking two women late at night. Around 1:55 am on April 3, the man suddenly grabbed one of them inappropriately before fleeing. The video quickly spread across social media, drawing public anger.
