Kolar: A shocking incident has been reported at the Morarji Desai residential school in Yeluvanahalli, Malur taluk, where schoolchildren, allegedly from Scheduled Castes and in classes 7 to 9, were compelled to clean a septic tank.

Although officials insist it was a toilet chamber and part of a cleanliness initiative, a teacher verified that it was, in fact, a septic tank. Parents have voiced their outrage, deeming the incident despicable even if the students were tasked with cleaning a toilet chamber.

Approximately five to six students were reportedly made to undertake this task in the presence of the principal and a teacher. Disturbing pictures and a video, covertly captured by a teacher, show the children recounting their distressing experience, disclosing that they are mistreated daily at the residential school.

Nagarathna, an official from the district child protection unit, has initiated an inquiry into the matter, collecting details from those involved.
