Swiggy Delivers: Biryani, Burgers, and Pizza Dominate NYE Orders
As India ushered in the new year, Swiggy Food Marketplace CEO Rohit Kapoor shared a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s “war room” on X. Kapoor described New Year’s Eve as the “biggest day” for Swiggy, with delivery partners, restaurants, and operations teams working tirelessly to manage the food-ordering frenzy.
Kapoor also launched a poll asking users to guess the most-ordered food item—Pizza, Burger, or Biryani—teasing, “Answer agle saal (AKA tomorrow) hi pata chalega.” Swiggy’s social media team kept the fun going with quirky updates: Bengaluru topped dine-out bookings, and the city also saw a massive wave of Hyderabadi biryani orders.
Pizza and burgers were close contenders, with 2,24,590 pizzas and 1,16,099 burgers ordered nationwide. One post joked, “Tum logo ko kuch aur khane ka idea nahi aata kya??” Bengaluru users also stood out, with 1,54,254 people ordering food for others, prompting Swiggy to humorously hope these weren’t cash-on-delivery requests.
Meanwhile, Swiggy Dineout revealed one Delhi user saved ₹41,142 in a single transaction, highlighting how customers made the most of festive deals.
With its dynamic updates and efficient service, Swiggy ensured no party—or morning after—went hungry.
