Bengaluru: A techie returning to Bengaluru from the United States of America was arrested by Bengaluru police for allegedly groping a woman on board the flight. The Kempegowda International Airport police booked the accused, and he was later released on bail, as reported by The Times of India.
Details of the Incident
The incident involved a 32-year-old woman from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, who is also a techie working in the USA. The woman was seated next to the accused on the flight. While she was asleep, the accused reportedly placed his hand on her thigh. Upon the woman’s objection and removal of his hand, the accused allegedly repeated the inappropriate behavior a few minutes later.
The victim promptly alerted the cabin crew, and as a result, she was assigned another seat on the flight. The accused argued that the touching was unintentional, claiming that he did not consciously touch her, and the woman did not lodge a complaint with the cabin crew.
Police Action and Response
Bengaluru police took swift action, arresting the accused and charging him with sexual harassment. The accused’s statement was mentioned, emphasizing his denial of intentional misconduct. The incident occurred on a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Bengaluru.
