Sunny Gupta, a Bengaluru-based tech professional, shared his unique experience of using Zomato to order food while traveling by train. While on a journey from Mumbai to Pune, Sunny noticed Zomato’s feature prompting passengers to enter their PNR. Intrigued, he decided to try it out, documenting the process in a now-viral post on X (formerly Twitter).

Skipping the onboard pantry service, Sunny ordered Triple Schezwan Rice worth ₹465 to be delivered to his train at Panvel station. The option allows travelers to select an upcoming station for food delivery and even place orders up to four days in advance. He humorously called this “revenge” on Zomato for past delivery delays, as his train’s tardiness left the delivery agent waiting.

The food arrived on time, handed over by a courteous delivery person. However, Sunny noted one drawback: the lack of cutlery, despite Zomato’s instructions to include it for train passengers.

Sunny’s thread garnered over 8 lakh views and sparked a lively discussion. While many praised Zomato’s “meals on train” feature for offering restaurant-quality food during travel, some shared mixed reviews about their own experiences.

“This service is a game-changer for train journeys,” wrote one user, while another recounted receiving cold pizza due to train delays.

Overall, Sunny’s story highlighted the growing convenience of integrating technology with travel services.
