Bengaluru: District Kannada Sahitya Parishad in Bengaluru has decided to immediately suspend textbook review committee Chairman Rohith Chakratirtha on the claims that he insulted poet laureate Kuvempu and the State Anthem (Naadageethe) written by him.

The decision was made at a Parishad meeting on Thursday June 2 in Chamarajapete. Bengaluru District President of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad Prakash Murthy presided over the meeting.

Chakratirtha, on the other hand, has strongly denied the allegations.  He said that the he did not post the Facebook post with the distorted lines of the state anthem. He stated that the post, which was made in 2017, was a forwarded WhatsApp message that he had shared.

“While reposting it, I had clearly mentioned that it was not mine,” he said.
