Bengaluru: The state government has decided not to celebrate Tipu Jayanti at the Vidhana Soudha for security reasons. Instead, it will be celebrated at Ravindra Kalakshetra.
A decision in this regard was taken during a high level meeting convened by Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara at the Vidhana Soudha on Monday, November 5.
Tipu Jayanti will be celebrated across the state on November 10. For many years, the state-level event was celebrated at the Vidhana Soudha.
At the meeting, which was attended by senior police officers including DG-IGP Neelamani R Raju, it was decided that the procession, that is usually part of the Tipu Jayanti celebrations, will be cancelled. Instead, it was decided that celebrations would only be conducted indoors.
It was also decided to direct the cyber police to keep an eye on social media postings to ensure that there will not be any provocative posts or statements during this time.
