TNIE Reporter Assaulted by Alleged Fans of Actor Darshan Near Court

Bengaluru: A reporter from The New Indian Express was allegedly attacked by a few miscreants claiming to be fans of film star Darshan while near the court on Nrupatunga Road to cover the proceedings of the Renukaswamy murder case. In this case, Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and others are accused.

According to a report, reporter Rakshit Gowda TT, 23, was assigned to cover the high-profile murder case on Saturday when Darshan and 13 other accused were produced before the court. The incident occurred near the court.

As per the report, four individuals approached Rakshit and asked his identity. The reporter informed them that he was a journalist there to cover the court proceedings. They immediately took him aside, allegedly assaulted him, hurled abuse, and warned him to leave the place, threatening further harm if they saw him there again.

The journalist suffered a nose injury, which started bleeding, and he immediately went to the Halasuru Gate police to report the incident. Despite seeking intervention, a few policemen on duty at the spot did not help the reporter, the report stated.

TNIE Deputy Resident Editor Nirad Mudur tweeted about the incident, tagging Karnataka DGP. Nirad in his tweet mentioned that the reporter was attacked by miscreants did not mention whether the attackers claimed that they were fans of Darshan. This incident needs to be probed thoroughly and accused should be nabbed immediately demanded scribes.
