A 20-year-old woman lost her life after plunging from the 13th floor of an unfinished building in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara while allegedly recording a reel for social media.

According to police reports, she had arrived at the vacant property on Saturday evening with friends for a gathering. The building, unoccupied for nearly ten years due to an ownership dispute, lacked safety measures. Investigators stated she fell into an empty shaft meant for a future elevator.

Authorities have filed an unnatural death report and are exploring multiple angles. While initial accounts suggested she was filming a “sad reel” after an argument over a relationship, officers confirmed no video was found on her phone. “We cannot yet confirm if a personal dispute contributed to the incident,” DCP (South East) Fatima said.

Around 8 pm, the group reportedly reached the top floor. Shortly after, the woman fell, prompting one friend to call emergency services. Police patrol teams from Hoysala responded swiftly but declared her dead at the scene.

Two male companions allegedly fled before authorities arrived, while a female friend remained to brief the officers. Investigators are also examining whether municipal bodies were informed of the hazardous condition of the site.

The case remains under detailed scrutiny to determine whether negligence, foul play, or an accident caused the fatal fall.
