The Lokayukta police have arrested an accounts manager at the District Health and Family Welfare Office in Tumakuru for allegedly accepting a bribe to process a bill.

Caught red-handed in trap operation

The accused, identified as Aravind, was arrested on Thursday evening at his office premises. The Lokayukta team conducted a trap operation after receiving a complaint and caught him red-handed while accepting the bribe at around 4:10 PM.

Bribe demanded to clear NGO bill

According to officials, Aravind had allegedly demanded ₹12,000 to process a pending bill of ₹1.98 lakh submitted by an NGO. The bill pertained to health awareness exhibitions conducted under the National Health Mission across 10 taluks in the district during 2025–26.

Complaint leads to action

The NGO president, Rajashekar, reportedly refused to pay the bribe and approached the Lokayukta with a formal complaint. Based on this, officials planned and executed the trap that led to the arrest.

Investigation underway

Following the arrest, further investigation is underway to determine if there were additional instances of corruption linked to the accused.

The incident underscores ongoing efforts by Lokayukta authorities to crack down on corruption in public offices.
