Tumakuru: Home Minister G. Parameshwar reacted to the brutal murder of Neha Hiremath, the daughter of Congress Party’s Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation member Niranjan Hiremath. The Home Minister said, as of now, the case that sent shockwaves across Hubballi-Dharwad and neighbouring Belagavi district does not look like Love Jihad.

Speaking to reporters, Parameshwara said, “As far as I got information, both Neha and the accused, Fayaz, were in love; he did the extreme act when she started ignoring him. I am also awaiting more information in this case.”

He also requested opposition parties not politicize this issue as the case is very sensitive and the state is all set to go for polling.

Neha, a first-year MCA student, was brutally hacked to death by her lover Fayazz in broad daylight inside the BVB College campus on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Dharwad District-in-Charge Minister Santosh Lad paid respect to Neha Hiremath and consoled the family members who were in deep shock. Speaking to reporters, Lad said that in these kinds of incidents, a law to encounter the accused should be brought.

Scores of political leaders, including Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, MLAs Arvind Bellad, Mahesh Tenginkai, and Farkira Dingaleshwar Swamiji, paid their respects to the mortal remains of Neha at her residence.

The ABVP activists in Hubballi staged a protest by blocking Hubballi-Dharwad Road in front of BVB College. In Belagavi also, the activists staged a protest demanding justice for Neha.
