Tumkur: An argument broke out between the state tourism minister and the Tumakuru SP while the mortal remains of Siddaganga Matt seer Late Shree Shivakumara Swamiji was being laid to rest at the sanctum of seer’s choice on Tuesday, January 22. Only a few of the VVIPs and seers of other matts were allowed inside the sanctum.
Tourism Minister Sa Ra Mahesh also wanted to enter the sanctum to which Superintendent of Police Divya Gopinath objected citing security protocol.
Sa Ra Mahesh and SP Divya got into an argument which gradually blew into a verbal spat between the two. SP Divya was observed weeping and giving counters to the arguments that the minister made.
At this point, Janata Dal (S) MLA S R Srinivas and Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Renukacharya consoled SP Divya and also Sa Ra Mahesh.
Meanwhile, today i.e., on Wednesday, January 23, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has backed Sa Ra Mahesh and clarified that the SP had left other ministers and MLAs from other party but had not allowed our (JDS) minister.
“Insult to Sa Ra Mahesh is an insult to me”, said CM HDK.
However, SP Divya addressing the media today has said, “In big events like this small confusions are common”.
