Tumakuru: I have immense respect for Former Congress MLA Shafi Ahmed. He called me a traitor. He is an elder and I will accept whatever he says,” said MLA Dr G. Parameshwara.

Shafi Ahmed had resigned from the party after his son-in-law Rafiq Ahmed was denied ticket from Tumakuru City Assembly constituency.

Speaking to mediapersons, Parameshwara said “I am not responsible for the loss of ticket to Shafi Ahmed’s family. Giving tickets is not my decision alone. The party’s national election committee will decide who should be given the ticket.”

“I have expressed my opinion before the committee. The committee has reviewed and announced its decision. Iqbal Ahmed is an ordinary activist. I don’t know by what criteria they have been given tickets. Shafi Ahmed has built the party for 50 years. I appeal to him not to leave the party.”
