Bengaluru: Two children, who were locked inside their home, died due to the asphyxiation in Basavapura in Bengaluru.

According to the electronic city police who have registered an FIR in this regard, deceased children are identified as Srujan (5) and Lakshmi (2), children of Devendrappa, a security guard and Roopamma, a housemaid.

According to the police, on Sunday both Devendrappa and Roopamma left for work in the morning after serving breakfast to kids. As they were not in a position to send the kids to any daycare centre, they kept them locked inside the home. Both the kids while playing burnt few papers. As the house door and windows were locked, they developed breathing problems and died due to asphyxiation, informed the police.

“It is the common practice adopted by most of the poor in the cities. This is another face of the life of poor in the electronic city, which houses hundreds of IT companies,” observed a police officer.
