Bengaluru: So far, only the rich have been targets of honeytrapping by rowdy gangs. In a recent curious case, however, the Mattikere police arrested three persons, including a mother-son duo, for honeytrapping a vegetable seller for few thousand bucks.

According to the police, Ramesh (name changed), is a vegetable seller in KR Market here in the city. Raheema (name changed) is a divorcee and is a fruit seller on the roadside near Victoria Hospital. Recently, she had borrowed some money from Ramesh.

“After she borrowed money from Ramesh, a relation between the two grew. But, when Ramesh started asking for his money, Raheema requests her friend Vimala (name changed) to record their sexual activity. After that, Raheema, along with Vimala and her son, started blackmailing Ramesh for a few thousand rupees. Ramesh approached the police who have now detained the trio and have seized the recorded footage,” said police sources.
