Mangaluru: There is a need to popularise the homeopathy in order to make it reach more number of people as only 20 percent of the Indian population opts for it”, said Prof. P K Sudhir, Vice Chancellor of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Salem, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday, October 27.

He was addressing a gathering at the 23rd annual national homeopathic conference `Decennium- 18` organised by the Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College at Father Muller Convention Centre in Kankanady. He said, “Despite various awareness programmes on homeopathy, 80 percent of the population prefers allopathy. Hence, there is a need to popularise this homeopathic medicine through various activities”, he said.

Sudhir asked the students to conduct research in their respective fields in order to give greater publicity to the homeopathy. Meanwhile, he asked the students to write more articles on the homeopathy medicines, latest researches and its benefits. “There is a need to publish magazines in order to boost the homeopathy though it is cost-effective”, he said.

Dr. N L Thiwari, Member of Governors, Homeopathy Ministry of Ayush, New Delhi after inaugurating the programme recalled the contributions of those who started the institution. “Homeopathy is an alternative method of treatment, based on nature’s law of cure. Though there are very less number of students when it was begun in Father Muller’s Institution, it has slowly gained popularity due to the immense contribution of the college management. There is a need to popularise it much more in the next coming days”, he said.

Director of the Father Muller Charitable Institutions Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho presided over the programme and asked the students to update their knowledge and best utilise the national conference.

Prior to the programme, Homoeopathic Medical College Principal Dr. Shivaprasad K welcomed the gathering.
