Bengaluru: The state registered 178 new cases on Friday morning (till 12 noon), taking the state’s COVID-tally to 2,781.
Raichur district witnessed a major spike in cases with 62 new cases in a single day. With this, the district’s total tally has hit 134.
Most of the new cases in Raichur and in other districts too are returnees, specifically from Maharashtra. The authorities are anticipating a further spike in Raichur as they await reports of another 3,000 people.
The fatality has been reported from Chikkaballapura. A 50-year-old woman with a case of RTA head injury was admitted to a hospital on May 24. Due to acute kidney injury and pneumonia, she was moved to a designated hospital in Bengaluru Urban on May 28. She tested positive for COVID-19 and died on May 29.
The district-wise break up is as follows: Kalaburgi (61), Yadagir (60), Udupi (15), Bengaluru Urban (12), Ballari (9), Chikkaballapur (5), Vijayapura (4), Davangere (4), Hassan (4), Mysuru (2), Chikkamagaluru (2), Mandya (2), Tumakuru (2), Dharwad (1), Bengaluru Rural (1), Shivamogga (1), and Chitradurga (1).
