Bengaluru: Akhila Bharatha Veerashaiva Mahasabha president and Congress MLA Shamanuru Shivashankarappa alleged that Veerashaivas are neglected in the present government.
Speaking at an event in Harihar of the Davanagere district he alleged that Veerashaivas are sidelined both in the government formation and the bureaucracy. “This will lead to anger in the society against the ruling parties,” he warned.
“Earlier, the Veerashaivas were given due importance in the state administration. But in the name of a caste census, the society was divided. Now divide and rule policy is followed,” he charged.
He urged the Veerashaiva pontiffs to show unity and protect the interests of the society.
Shamanuru’s statement comes at a crucial juncture when present government is dubbed anti-Lingayat and anti-North Karnataka.
