Will allocate Rs 1 lakh crore for farmers if BJP comes to power: BSY

Bengaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president B S Yeddyurappa on Saturday said Rs 1 lakh crore would be allocated for agriculture and welfare of farmers in the state if BJP comes to power in the next Assembly elections.

“I will give top priority for farmers’ welfare if BJP comes to power in the next Assembly elections,’’ Yeddyurappa said while addressing the gathering at BJP Parivartana Yatra meeting held at Bengaluru Palace Grounds.

Criticising Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for not taking welfare measures for the benefit of farmers in the state, Yeddyurappa said Siddaramaiah is in deep slumber while 3,500 farmers committed suicide in the state.

“Siddaramaiah has promised to spend Rs 10,000 crore per year for the welfare of farmers but ended up in spending only Rs 8,500 crore. He has cheated farmers by not taking measures to mitigate their problems,’’ he said.

Coming down heavily on Congress government for its failure in maintaining law and order in the state, he said around 20 BJP activists were killed by communal forces but not action has been taken to nab the culprits.

“Now people of the state want Congress government to go. I have reached more than two crore people during the 85-day Parvartana yatra and travelled 11,000 km distance in the state,’’ he said.

Tipu blood

Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa, in his inimitable style, has lambasted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for not doing anything for the welfare of poor and backward classes in the state.

“Siddaramaiah claims that he is the leader of Ahinda (Backward Classes, Dalits and Muslims) but not done anything for their welfare. Actually, Tipu’s blood is flowing in Siddaramaiah’s veins,’’ Eshwarappa said.

He has blamed Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy for stating that late Santosh was not stabbed with a knife but with a screw driver. “Will they keep quiet if somebody stabs their children with a screw driver?’’ he asked.

Siddaramaiah is shivering

Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation D. V. Sadananda Gowda has said Congress leaders, especially Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, are afraid of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Siddaramaiah is sitting in an air-conditioned room and watching this programme. He is shivering while watching this programme and huge gathering here,’’ Sadananda Gowda said.

Scams galore

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar has said the state government has become more corrupt under the leadership of Siddaramaiah.

“It has involved in many scams. It is the time for Congress government to exit. The government has miserably failed in maintaining law and order in the state,’’ Shettar said.

He criticized Siddaramaiah for questioning BJP national president Amit Shah’s authority for asking details on the spending of Central funds. “Every citizen of this country, including Amit Shah, has the right to question Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on the spending of Central funds,’’ he said.

He said Siddarmaiah has tried his best to ensure poor attendance at Amit Shah’s meeting in Mysuru by encouraging and advising farmers to observe bandh. “Despite bandh, thousands of people attended Amit Shah’s meeting in Mysuru,’’ he said.
