Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a 45-year-old woman allegedly killed her 14-year-old daughter before dying by suicide at their residence, police said on Wednesday. The incident came to light after local residents noticed something unusual and alerted authorities.
According to police, the deceased woman has been identified as Suvarna. Preliminary investigations suggest that she first smothered her daughter and later died by suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan inside the house.
Bodies discovered by locals
The incident surfaced when neighbours grew suspicious and informed the police. A team from the local station rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of both the mother and daughter.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause and sequence of deaths. Police officials said further forensic analysis will help confirm the preliminary findings.

Police have registered two separate cases in connection with the incident. One complaint was filed by Suvarna’s husband, Chandrasekhar, regarding the alleged murder of their daughter.
Another case was registered based on a complaint by Suvarna’s brother, Manjunath, who has raised doubts about the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Officials stated that both cases will be investigated simultaneously to ensure a thorough examination of all aspects.
