It can be recalled that on September 12, 1996, HDD had proposed the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Parliament. The legislation proposed 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and in all state legislative assemblies. The bill is yet to get a nod in the Lower House of Parliament (Lok Sabha) despite its reintroduction.
