Bengaluru: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday said Yeshwantpur Railway Station here is being developed as a world-class station with an investment of Rs 377 crore.
After examining some civil work, he told reporters that the train station will have a roof plaza with a kids’ play area and a place to sell goods.
Vaishnaw stated that this is one of the most significant railway stations in India and that trains from Bengaluru (city station), Hassan, Tumakuru, Hubli-Dharwad, and Delhi are served by it.
According to the minister, a significant reconstruction project for Rs 377 crore has been initiated at Yeshwantpur to transform it into a top-tier railway station.
“The station will be connected on both sides. There will be entrances on both sides, as well as a large, open roof plaza where visitors may wait in comfort, let the kids play, and shop and display locally made goods. Thus, Vaishnaw clarified, “that type of railway station is being developed at Yeshwantpur in a very nice way that we have seen all over the world.”
He claims that the train station is being used to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s objective of connecting the city’s two sides.
The minister said that he had also informed the Railway team on Monday that this station will be catering to huge traffic in the coming 20 to 30 years because suburban, mainline railway and the Metro are joining here.
“To cater to additional traffic in the coming years, we should keep the land available… whatever even if one metre of land is available anywhere, that land should be kept free for expanding in the future,” Vaishnaw stated.
He further stated that the Railways should make every effort to incorporate the expansion into the master plan so that it can be completed “today itself.”
