Bengaluru: Yoga, meditation and counselling sessions will be conducted for policemen every week to withstand pressure, said Home Minister G Parameshwara on Sunday, July 24.
Speaking at the passing out parade of the 61st batch of civil police constables at Karnataka State Police Training School at Channapatna in Ramanagara district, Parameshwara said, “The cops work under pressure from politicians and senior officers. They also have problems in their domestic lives. Many of them are unable to withstand the pressure and problems. Hence, they are committing suicides”.
He further said that the Home Department came up with the idea of conducting yoga, meditation and counseling sessions for policemen and had discussed the same with counsellors and psychiatrists. He also informed that the training curriculum for constables and sub-inspectors would be modified along with regular recruitment of new policemen to reduce the burden of policemen in service.
Technology-equipped vehicles and modern gadgets will be given to the police department, he added.
