Forest officials have successfully captured a leopard that had been roaming near agricultural fields in Kadur village of Rattihalli taluk, bringing relief to farmers who had been on alert for over a month. The animal’s frequent presence near farmlands had created widespread fear, with many farmers avoiding their fields in recent weeks.
Leopard trapped near hillock after repeated sightings
The leopard was trapped in an agricultural field close to a hillock in Kadur, following a series of sightings that had led residents to report concerns to the Forest Department. CCTV cameras installed around the village had captured clear visuals of the animal’s movements, confirming its regular presence near farmlands.
Based on the footage, forest officers set up a strategic trap and succeeded in capturing the leopard without incident.
Relief for farmers after weeks of anxiety
Local farmers reported avoiding early-morning and late-evening visits to their fields due to fear of encountering the animal. The successful capture has restored a sense of safety in the community, which had been living in uncertainty for several weeks.
