Bengaluru: Disha Ravi, a Bengaluru-based climate activist, claims that she was denied a passport despite following the proper procedures.

Disha, who works for Greta Thunberg’s ‘Fridays For Future’, a Swedish climate change activist, has claimed that she was meant to be in Glasgow with three other members for the famous United Nations climate conference.

“I could not attend the COP26 event and was subject to unnecessary court proceedings. My passport was still withheld. This is a blatant violation of my civil liberties,” she tweeted on Saturday November 13.

She further claimed that the Ministry of External Affairs notice states that criminal proceedings are not a bar to acquiring a passport. She has gone to court hearings and visited the Passport Office twice so far, but has yet to receive her passport, despite the fact that it has been 88 days.
