Karwar: At least three persons were killed and several others seriously injured in a ghastly accident involving a KSRTC bus and a lorry on National Highway 66 near Kumta on July 7.
Reportedly, the lorry laden with a large iron pillar brushed against the bus near Panduranga Hotel near Kumta. As a result, the pillar sliced through on side of the bus, killing the passengers seated behind the driver, eyewitnesses said. Those injured have been admitted into various hospitals here.
The identity of those killed remains unknown. However, police said that they must be from nearby areas of Kumta and Gokarna as the bus was plying between these places.
The police, with the help of local residents, were busy clearing the accident spot for vehicular traffic.
