Karwar: A man from Karwar, currently working in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has sought help from the DC of Uttara Kannada.

Imtiyaz Shiekh Sardar, from Karwar, who works as a driver in Riyadh, in his Whatsapp message to the deputy commissioner, said, “I have been working as a driver for a household for seven months, but the owner has not paid my salary properly. He is also preventing me from returning to India and has taken away my passport and visa. I have not been able to send money home to my family. My wife and children are anxious. My attempts to contact the Indian Embassy in Saudi have been unsuccessful. Please help me.”

According to reports the DC has contacted Sardar and assured to help him. The DC has forwarded Sardar’s message to the deputy residential commissioner in Delhi.

It may be recalled that in September, Poornima Bandekar of Karwar, who was working in the Saudi capital city of Riyadh, was similarly helped by the district authorities. Like Imtiyaz, Poornima too contacted the district administration through WhatsApp.
