Kasaragod: Train from Thiruvananthapuram to Kannur, Kerala’s first Vande Bharat train has also been extended to Kasaragod.
The first trial run was conducted on Wednesday April 19 and passed through Kasaragod in the afternoon. The train from Thiruvananthapuram reached Kasaragod in 7 hours 50 minutes. At Kasaragod Railway Station, MP Rajmohan Unnithan, MLA N. A Nellikunnu and other dignitaries were present.
The Vande Bharat train was allowed to run only from Thiruvananthapuram to Kannur. Accordingly, two days ago, this route was diverted. In this background the train also was extended to Kasaragod.
The Centre was under pressure from several quarters, including from MP Rajmohan Unnithan, to increase train services up to Mangaluru.Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnavi had promised to expand the train.
Accordingly, a trial run was conducted on Wednesday April 19. The train will be officially run from April 25 and will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
