Puttur: A 21-year-old woman reportedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at her residence in Nelyady of the Puttur Taluk.
The deceased has been identified as Navya Joseph, the daughter of V J Joseph, who is an entrepreneur. She had recently completed her BBA at a private college in Mangaluru and ever since her graduation, she was living at home.
She is survived by her parents and two siblings.
As per reports, the incident came to light on Monday, January 4 morning, when her family broke down her bedroom door and found her body.
According to the police, Navya went to bed at 10.30 PM on Sunday, as is usual for her. When she did not open her door on Monday morning and did not answer her mother’s calls, the family broke down her door only to find Navya dead.
The Uppinangady Police have begun an investigation into the case.
