Mangalore: A chain collision involving six vehicles occurred on the Nethravathi Bridge in Ullal, Mangalore, due to a stuck lorry, causing a significant traffic jam during heavy rainfall.
The incident took place in the middle of the Nethravathi Bridge when a lorry malfunctioned and lost control, blocking traffic from the opposite direction. The lorry slid sideways due to the slippery road conditions and collided with an Alto car, creating a domino effect. Following the Alto car, a Ritz car, a Contessa pickup truck, and a private bus were also involved in the collision.
As a result of the pile-up, the traffic jam extended for nearly two hours, causing inconvenience to commuters. Fortunately, passengers in the vehicles sustained only minor injuries and managed to escape safely.
It is essential to exercise caution during heavy rainfall and drive at reduced speeds to ensure road safety. Additionally, maintaining vehicles in good working condition and following traffic rules and regulations can help prevent such accidents on the road.
