Mangaluru: The Konkan Railway Corporation on Tuesday March 29 has stated that it has completed the electrification on its entire 741 kilometres stretch between Thokur in Mangaluru to Roha in Maharashtra. The release from the Konakan Railway Authorities stressed that this will reduce dependency on diesel apart from ensuring seamless and pollution-free operations.

According to release, the total cost for electrification came upto Rs. 1,287 Crore. Further, the authorisation was obtained on March 28, and Commissioner of Railway Safety’s inspection of the entire Konkan Railway route was successfully held in six phases beginning March 2020, it added.
Train operations will begin on the route in a phased manner, it was stated in the release.
