Mangaluru: A heart check-up camp has been organised for the children suffering from cardiac ailments and to create awareness among the parents about the disease. The heart check-up camp for children with cardiac problems will be held in the Out-Patient Department of A J Hospital and Research Centre on Saturday, March 31.
The camp participants will be offered free consultation and 50 percent discount on Echocardiograms. If the child requires further treatment, the same will be done at a concessional rate. Renowned paediatric cardiologists and paediatric cardiac surgeons will be available for consultation during the camp.
Children with the following problems can avail the camp benefit:
– Those known to have heart diseases
– Those becoming blue on crying
– Those having recurrent respiratory infections
– Those with breathing difficulty while playing
The first full-fledged Paediatirc Cardiology Centre is functioning at A J Hospital and Research Centre. The team of doctors is comprised of Dr. Prem Alva, Paediatric Cardiologist and Dr. Gourav Shetty, Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon.
Simple heart defects can be cured by pinhole procedures and complex defects treated by open heart surgeries, which are now routinely done at the centre.
