Mangaluru: A public fridge and a cloth bank ‘Akshaya Dhama’ were inaugurated here on April 1, Easter Sunday by Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of the Mangalore Diocese.
Calling those with abundance to donate, the Bishop said, “I urge the kind-hearted folks of Mangaluru to donate food and clothes by making use of the public fridge and cloth bank to aid those in need. Anyone who needs food or clothes can take them from here,” and added that we need to emulated the life of Jesus who always helped and showed compassion towards the poor.
The PRO of the Mangalore Diocese, William Menezes announced that ‘Akshaya Dharma’ would start functioning from May 17.
Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, Fr Richard Coelho, Fr Henry Sequeira, M P Noronha, Elias Fernandes and Marcel Monteiro, were present.
