Mangaluru: Mangalore University, in association with Red Cross Youth and in collaboration with Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt, recently organised a Swachh Bharat campaign under the programme “Amala Bharath Abhiyan” the programme at the Wenlock Hospital.
Brahmacharini Mangalamrita Chaitanya, head of the Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt, flagged off the programme by garlanding a photo frame of Swami Vivekanand.
The programme, organized to commemorate Swami Vivekanand’s birth anniversary and the National Youth Day, was celebrated on January 11.
Speaking on the occasion, district surgeon Dr. Rajeshwari Devi said, “The ‘Amala Bharath Abhiyan’, organized with the blessings of Mata Amritanandamayi in the Wenlock campus, has given a new dimension and spirit to the Swachh Bharat programme.”
She also lauded the efforts of the Red Cross Youth.
C A Shantharam Shetty of the Red Cross said, “Shortly, a help desk will be established at the Wenlock Hospital for the benefit of the public.”
Several students from different colleges in and around the city, and otehr guests were present.
