Mangaluru: Mangalore Devdas Mallya known popularly as M D Mallya, who was the retired chairman and managing director of both Bank of Baroda and Bank Of Maharastra breathed his last at his son’s residence at Banashankari, Bengaluru on Sunday, November 25. He suffering from ill-health for quite some time.
He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. He is a native of Mulki but was spending his retired life in Bengaluru.
Prior to his life as a banker, Mallya did his engineering degree at the then KREC, Surathkal and a management diploma at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru. He also did his industrial finance certificate course at the Indian Institute of Bankers after which he joined Corporation Bank in 1976. He was then appointed as the executive director of the Oriental Bank of Commerce after his tenure at Corporation Bank which was 29 years long.
