Bharatesha Alasandemajalu, a prominent member of the Karavali Wikimedians User Group in Mangaluru, has been chosen to represent Tulu and Kannada languages at the Wikimedia Summit 2024 in Berlin, Germany. The event, scheduled from April 19 to 22, will gather over 150 multilingual participants from more than 100 countries.
As an ambassador, Bharatesha will engage in discussions on Wiki Moment 2030 ratification, attend User Group representative meetings, and address challenges pertaining to regional languages.
Hailing from Alasandemajalu in Puttur taluk, Bharatesha is the son of Bojappa Gowda A and Girija AB. Currently employed at the Bank of Baroda, he is also a former member of the Karnataka Arebhashe Samkruthi mathu Sahitya Academy. Bharatesha’s collaboration with the Wikimedia Foundation resulted in the production of ‘Pursa Kattuna’, Tulu’s inaugural research documentary, which garnered recognition at international film festivals.
