Breakthrough: MVA Finalise Seat Sharing Deal

Mumbai: In a significant development, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has reached a consensus on the seat-sharing arrangement for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra. According to the seat agreement, the Shiv Sena (UBT) will contest on 21 seats, the Congress on 17 seats, and the NCP (SP) will contest 10 seats.

Sena MP Sanjay Raut announced on Tuesday that the Congress will not contest the Bhiwandi, Sangli, and Mumbai South Central seats as part of the seat-sharing deal.

NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar stated that there are no longer any disagreements regarding seat allocation. “We have finalized the seat-sharing agreement through mutual consent,” he said.

Uddhav Thackeray, present at the press conference, said that while everyone may the expectations, the seat-sharing was finalized based on certain criteria and with the goal of winning seats.

Nana Patole of the Congress mentioned that the party is committed to ending the “dictatorial regime” and shown big heart on disputed seats. “Our party workers should accept this decision,” he added.

Thackeray expressed the alliance wanted Prakash Ambedkar to join them, he said even if criticize them they would not utter a single word against him, as they respect him.

 

Thackeray also accused the BJP of misusing government machinery to target the opposition and accommodating corrupt leaders within its party. He criticized the BJP for allegedly used power to collect funds through election bonds.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) has been allocated the following seats: Jalgaon, Parbhani, Nashik, Palghar, Kalyan, Thane, Raigad, Maval, Osmanabad, Aurangabad, Ratnagiri, Buldhana, Hatkanangale, Shirdi, Sangli, Hingoli, Yavatmal-Washim, Mumbai North West, Mumbai South Central, Mumbai South, and Mumbai North East.

The Congress party has been assigned the following seats: Nandurbar, Dhule, Akola, Amravati, Nagpur, Bhandara-Gondia, Gadchiroli-Chimur, Chandrapur, Nanded, Jalna, Pune, Latur, Solapur, Kolhapur, Ramtek, Mumbai North, and Mumbai North Central.

The NCP (SP) will be contesting from the following constituencies: Baramati, Shirur, Satara, Bhiwandi, Dindori, Madha, Raver, Wardha, Ahmednagar, and Beed.
