Mangaluru: With only 14 days left for the Lok Sabha election, both the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party are trying to woo the voters with different tactics. Though the election campaigning is going on, the leaders of both the parties are now eagerly waiting for the heavyweights of their respective parties. While the Congress leaders are trying to bring party’s prime ministerial candidate Rahul Gandhi to Mangaluru, BJP has already announced that Narendra Modi would come and address the public meeting in Mangaluru on April 13.

The campaigning will end on April 16. Hence, the party leaders are striving hard to meet maximum voters before the deadline. Both the parties are planning now to organise bike rallies, road shows among others. In order to bring star campaigners to Mangaluru, the BJP leaders are trying to contact the leaders of the party’s state and national units.

Meanwhile, sources from the BJP election office confirmed with newskarnataka.com that Narendra Modi would visit Mangaluru on April 13 morning and address the public meeting at Nehru Maidan. Later, he would move to Bengaluru. Though Congress leaders are trying to bring their national president and prime ministerial candidate Rahul Gandhi to Mangaluru, his visit has not been confirmed yet. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Dinesh Gundu Rao and minister D K Shivakumar have already arrived in the city and conducted meeting with the party workers.

The workers of both the parties have been disbursing pamphlets to the voters. While BJP workers are highlighting the major works of the union government and seeking the support of the voters, the Congress party workers are highlighting the failures of the NDA government.

Actress Tara to visit city

In order to campaign for the BJP candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel, film actress and MLC Tara is visiting Mangaluru on Thursday, April 4. As per the schedule, Tara will visit Moodbidri, Kinnigoli, Mangaluru Central Market, Kotekar, Ullal, Gurupur, Katipalla among other areas. Rajya Sabha members Vinay Prabhakar Sahasrabuddhe and Rajeev Chandrashekhar would also participate in a programme ‘Prabuddhara Samavesha’ which would be held at Hotel Ocean Pearl on April 7.
