Kasaragod/Mallapuram: BJP candidate from Mallapuram assured of supply of quality beef to voters on his victory in the ensuing Lok Sabha by polls during party’s campaign on Sunday, April 2.
The statement by the Sri Prakash, party’s candidate from Mallapuram has taken everyone by surprise but opponents downplayed and said, “playing the beef card is only to appease the large minority community electorate”
Sri Prakash made the statement on Sunday during campaign giving enough material for debate at National level. Earlier UP chief minister had banned unauthorised abattoirs in the State and Jharkhand Chief Minister Raman Singh went a step ahead by supporting death sentence to those involved in cow slaughter.
In contrast, BJP’s candidate had to make this controversial statement to break into minority vote banks in a constituency which has 65% Muslim and 5% Christian voters.
The CPM led Kerala government has not taken any steps on beef ban or sealing illegal abattoirs till now, when even a non BJP government in Bihar has started sealing illegal abattoirs.
