Mangaluru: Prahlad Joshi, BJP state president demanded a CBI probe into the recent murder of right wing activist Prashanth Poojary on October 9 in Moodbidri.

Addressing the media, Joshi said the activist was against cow slaughter and had been involved in several raids on slaughter houses in the past. His opposition to the cattle trafficking was the reason behind the murder, he said. Poojary was not a member of the party, but nobody had a licence to eliminate him, he said.

Joshi also linked the murder to the dropping cases against PFI activists and said that ruling Congress government is directly responsible for the incident in Moodbidri because the activists belonging to another community had government backing.

Joshi demanded Rs 25 lakh compensation to the kin of the activist from the government.

He alleged that S Murugan who is handling the case is trying to hush it up and hence called him an incompetent officer to handle the murder case. Joshi blamed three ministers of the coastal district for not visiting the victim’s family. Writers who opposed the recent Dadri incident too came under fire and Joshi said that they did not show the same gesture towards the murder case in Moodbidri.

Earlier, BJP national president Amit Shah, in a media interview, said that there was silence over the murder of a Hindutva activist in contrast to the selective outrage over the lynching of a Muslim man at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh on suspicion that there was beef in his house.
