BJP leader murder attempt case: Four more arrested

Mangaluru: Four persons have been nabbed by the Surathkal police on charges of attempting to murder a young BJP leader near Krishnapura.

Barkat Ali alias Amir (26) a resident of Soorinje, Abdul Aziz (40) from Katipalla, Irfan (27) a resident of Krishnapura and Mohammed Rizwan alias Rijju (23) are the arrested.

It may be recalled that, Bharath Raj (26), the president of BJP unit in the 5th ward, while returning home in his bike, was allegedly attacked by a group of four men with lethal weapons. However, Bharath managed to flee from the spot. He later got admitted at Padmavathi hospital for suffering minor injuries.

Earlier, Surathkal police had arrested Mohammed Sharif (47) a resident of Krishnapura and Abdul Khader(37) from Kalavaru who had provided vehicle for the attackers on April 13.

Surathkal police insector Cheluvaraju B, sub-inspector Poovappa H M and team arrested the four accused near Padubidri on Tuesday, May 3.
