Mangaluru: District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai demanded an apology from BJP leaders Prahlad Joshi, Renukacharya, Eshwarappa, and Basavaraj Bommai for their irresponsible statements on the bomb-scare incident at Mangaluru International Airport.
Informing that their statements would create communal violence in the state, Mithun Rai on Saturday, January 25 said, “BJP leaders are engaged in targeting one particular community which is bad for our secular country. Though Mangaluru has a good reputation in and around the state, BJP leaders who are dreaming of gaining political benefit indulged in creating misunderstandings and violence between two communities. As BJP leaders had suspected the involvement of Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protesters in the bomb-scare incident, all such leaders should now apologise before the public.”
Meanwhile, Mithun urged the police department to trace accomplices behind the bomb-scare incident. “Even though it was only 10 kg of RDX, we should find the person who helped the accused Aditya Rao to prepare the bomb along with anyone else who is involved in this terrible move,” he said and added that if the accused in the bomb-scare incident would have belonged to another religion, then BJP would have intensified its efforts in targeting the Muslim community.
“Incidents like the police-firing which took place during CAA protest and the bomb-scare event have taken our district 10 years backward. It has negatively impacted our district and the economy of the district has also slipped due to these incidents. Instead of that, we should focus on competing with metropolitan cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and other developed cities with regard to development,” he added.
