Blood donation camp, Ayudha Puja held at Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay

Mangaluru: Father Muller Hospital and Thumbay, in association with Popular Front of India (PFI) members Farangipete, jointly organized a blood donation camp at Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay on October 25 from 9 AM to 12.30 PM.

Over 50 people voluntarily donated blood during the camp.

Dr. B. Ahamed Haji, the founder of ‘Thumbay B A Group’ who recently passed away, was remembered on the occasion and a tribute was paid to him.

Addressing the gathering after the inauguration, S.B. Abdul Hameed, SSSF Thumbay, who was the chief guest of the occasion, highlighted the need for donating blood. He also educated the gathering on many the do’s and don’ts of donating blood and the history of the entire blood transfusion process. Emphasising the need for a healthy living, he said that people need to diet and exercise.

Administrator of Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay, Fr Sylvester Vincent Lobo, President of PFI Bantwal Salim Farangipete, Kathibaru MJM Thumbay Abdul Latheef, Director B.A. Group B.A. Abdul Salam, Director PFI Farangipete Mohammed Irfan, SKSSF Habibulla, Member of Gram Panchayat Mohammed Zahoor, President SDPI Abdul Hazeez, Chief Administrator MJM Moosabba, Vice President SDPI K.S. Ahamed Bava, entrepreneur T.K. Shareef, entrepreneur Shareef Trozen, President Auto Drivers and Owners Association Adam CM, and others were present.

On the occasion, Medical Superintendent of Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay Dr. Kiran Shetty, and Medical Officer of PUDU PHC and Nodal Officer of COVID-19 Bantwal taluk Dr. Sudarshan were felicitated for their service to COVID-19 patients.

Meanwhile, on October 24, as it was the day of Ayudha Puja the next day, the hospital’s vehicles, equipment and instruments were blessed Rev. Fr Sylvester Vincent Lobo and Principal of Padua Degree College Rev. Fr Alwyn Serrao. Dr Kiran Shetty, and all the teaching and non-teaching staff were present for this occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Alwyn Serrao said that the festival has been observed by all regardless of religion since the olden days. He also said that all the workers are called ‘Karma Yogi’, which means that they work hard to earn a living. “The equipment used in hospitals are for the better care of patients and these can be called as ‘Parikaragalu’ instead of Ayudha”, he said.
