Mangaluru: After the completion of the flyover at Pumpwell and Thokkottu stalled, several accidents on the National Highway(NH) have been attributed to the delayed work.
However, DK District in-charge minister UT Khader has asked Assitant Commissioner to book a suo-motu criminal case against NH engineers for deaths reported on the NH in the district.
“Accidents are increasing due to incomplete works in the National Highways. A case has also been already registered against Navayuga in a recent accident. In coming days engineers concerned will be booked for the accidents,” Khader added.
“The construction work of Thokottu-Pumpwell is delayed. In the earlier meeting, officers have assured of completing Thokottu flyover in December and Pumpwell in March. Even the officials have failed to complete the temporary works in the highway. Every month officers of the National Highway should submit the status of the work to the DC,” he said.
Slamming the NH officials for traffic snarls at Thokkottu and Pumpwell, Khader said, “There potholes on the roads at Thokkottu and Pumpwell are grave issues. The officers have not taken any initiative to fill these potholes. Officers will be alert only if a case is been booked against them, ” he opined.
Financial Crisis
When Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil asked for clarification from Navayug officers for the delay in flyover works, the company officials agreed that company is under financial crisis to complete the work and that it is in the process of collecting bank loan. Once the loan is sanctioned the work will be resumed, they said.
