Bengaluru: As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, political parties are grappling with the task of finalizing their candidate lists. While Congress has already unveiled its initial list for the state, BJP is anticipated to follow suit within the next day or two.
Incumbent Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje has geared up for another run in the constituency. However, the ‘Go Back Shobha’ campaign against her has gained momentum, reflecting growing opposition within the party ranks.
Amidst this internal strife, the BJP high command is contemplating the possibility of fielding a surprise candidate. Pramod Madhwaraj and C T Ravi, who faced defeat in last year’s Karnataka Assembly election, are hopeful of securing nominations. Additionally, there’s speculation about the party considering Kota Srinivas Poojary, the leader of the opposition in the Legislative Council, for candidacy.
Rumors also suggest the potential redistribution of tickets, with Shobha Karandlaje possibly being fielded in the Bengaluru North constituency and Kota Srinivas Poojary in Udupi – Chikkamagaluru. However, clarity on the matter is expected to emerge within the next day or two.
