Mangalore: 21-year old Catholic, Sonia D’Souza from Yelyarpadavu, who, on October 16, had entered into wedlock with Konaje resident Roshan M.S, who belongs to the Hindu religion, ran back home on the fourth day after marriage.
On October 16, Sonia was married to Roshan at Arya Samaj, in the presence of leaders of Hindu activists.
However, Sonia’s mother repeatedly asked her not to marry him. But, Sonia had pledged to live with Roshan. The Kadri and Konaje police had recorded statements of the bride and bridegroom, as the parents of Sonia had filed a missing complaint at Konaje police station, when she moved out of the house, with the intent to marry Roshan.
On the fourth day, Sonia along with documents fled from the house, when I was taking bath, complained Roshan, her husband. “We planned to go for shopping. Hence, I was getting ready. Meantime, she fled with her brother, in a car”, he said based on the data from the closed circuit camera, which was placed next to his house.
“I would not have married her, if all this were to happen”, says Roshan. He said he is consulting a lawyer to take legal action against her.
It is learnt, Sonia has filed a written complaint to the commissioner of police against Roshan. The complaint states the marriage was forced by Roshan and his friends.
