Mangaluru: With instances of attacks in the name of protecting cattle on the rise, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwar has said that it would be better if the central government formulated and envisaged laws to curb such incidents.
Addressing reporters at City Police Commissioner’s office on Friday, he said that it is rather shocking that a BJP workers was hacked to death in undivided Dakshina Kannada district by cow vigilante groups. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stand on cattle policing is laudable.
With regard to suspicion of coastal youths having joined the ISIS, the Home Minister said that the internal security wings will have to be alert in this regard. He said that if concrete details are available about individuals or organisations that serve as facilitators for the youth to join the ISIS, then stern action would be taken against them.
Police reforms
Parameshwar said that a committee has been formed to look into police pay revision and meanwhile, he said that he is completely for abolition of orderly system.
“If the orderly is abolished then an alternative for the same will have to be made and talks are on with the Finance Department with regard to the same. Training is being imparted to candidates who can replace the orderly, however, the ones who undergo this training will not be a part of the police department,” he clarified.
Govt school teachers transfer
Speaking about the same, Parameshwar said that it is the education department’s stand now to finalise on whether the teachers would be transferred on basis of counselling or on the basis of strength of the school.
He said that a concrete decision on the issue will be taken only next year to avoid confusions this year.
