Mangaluru: Life across Dakshina Kannada district, hit by communal violence following Tipu Jayanti celebrations, appeared to return to normalcy on Saturday November 14.
Agitating over the death of a VHP leader in Madikeri on November 10 and the murder of a youth at BC Road on November 12, the district unit of Bajrang Dal and VHP had called for dawn-to-dusk bandh on Friday Novemver 13. Normal life was paralysed due to the bandh call by right wing groups across the state on Friday and in many places miscreants pelted stones at private and government buses.
However tight security will continue with the police and district administration deciding to continue with prohibitory orders under Section 144 in the district.
Few buses moved in the district as usual and shops were open on Saturday. Meanwhile the district administration has declared holiday for schools and colleges.
